"Year in Review" - 2024

Posted by Merit Celaire on Saturday, January 4, 2025 - 01:44 PM

My gosh, friends, what a year 2024 has been for yours truly and these music operations as a whole. Despite having to battle a whole bunch of "adversarial forces" which included family issues outside of here to having to painfully recover from horrific damage to my respective account on the Discord platform due to an apparently super evil hacker who's been determined to wreck the entire system and every single account under it including mine, my passionate endeavors of doing Super Nintendo music styled arrangement covers from modern installments of Nintendo's famed Super Mario video game series (main installments, spinoff installments, and branched installments) could not be stopped. And I'm hoping that this momentum continues as we progress through this brand new 2025 year; that said, we still need to share the stats that were gathered as the previous year came to a close no less than a few days ago as of the date and time of this posting itself. First and foremost, here are the final "overall statistics" for the 2024 year of these music operations as a whole, which denote the following:

* 57 songs were covered during the course of the previous year, which involved...
* 8 featured Mario series' installments (main/spinoff/branched), as well as...
* 14 featured Super Nintendo music instrument sets that were called on to do the song cover process itself

The only difference here is that comparing these stats to the previous "Year In Review (2023)" article I wrote early last year, we defintely had a big jump in song covers themselves done for 2024; the 2023 year had me have do 33 song covers for these operations while the 2024 year has me do 57 song covers, which resulted in having a 24 song cover difference! Huge jump, without a doubt, and I have a very strong feeling that at least one featured Mario game installment from the previous year is to account for said activity. This is also a good time to bring our first chart to review the featured Mario game installments that were involved last year, and I don't think we should be surprised in regards to who was the "winner" on it. Hint: it involves a "lead Mario female" who finally got her chance to be in a lead role opportunity installment after nearly two decades.

That's right, everyone, it's Princess Peach: Showtime! that takes home the "winner's honors" for last year (and no, it's not just because of yours truly being a huge fan of Princess Peach herself!). The musical score for this game itself has been more than unique all over the place and ever since the game's release last March, I was working hard like heck trying to find candidates to do Super Nintendo music styled covers for. There's talk about trying to find more candidates in the coming months to add to this respective game page; however, nothing has been finalized yet at this time. But you all can be assured that when the time comes for me to continue this part of the Princess Peach: Showtime! music cover journey, we'll do our best to still represent this game itself well, along with our "lead Mario female" herself. That all said, it still should be mentioned that an honorable shoutout goes to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch) for being the "runner up" after Princess Peach: Showtime! because we've done a lot of song covers related to that installment last year, but not as much as Princess Peach: Showtime! We'll see if history repeats itself regarding these two games during the course of this 2025 year or if there will be any upsets waiting to happen for next year's "Year in Review" article.

But hold on, we still have to share in regards to the "Featured Super Nintendo Music Instrument Sets" side which got the "winner's circle" honors there too. And it also shouldn't come as any surprise there either thanks to the majority of covers yours truly did targeting songs from both Priness Peach: Showtime! and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch) - it's the Disney's Aladdin music instrument set (Capcom/Disney)! This instrument set itself has literally been called upon many times to do a majority of song covers covering stuff heard in Princess Peach: Showtime! and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch), and I don't think we're through with it yet as the months forge ahead. Other honorable mentions include the instrument sets of Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! (Konami) and The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (Capcom/Disney), because they were also definitely involved in the many covers that I've done focused on songs from Princess Peach: Showtime! especially. The only question is the same as the upper section/chart above - will history repeat itself for the "featured instrument sets side" during this 2025 year itself? We shall wait and see what happens; until then, here's that chart of all the instrument sets that were called on during the 2024 year, as well as how many times the set was involved in song covers we did.

That's all we have to share regarding this "Year in Review" article for 2024; once again, I thank you all for your support and your continuing to stick with me through all the super annoying and evil "turbulence" that yours truly and these music operations had to endure since the early part of last year itself. At this time, and as I stated on this "January monthly greetings" blog entry posting, I'm still slowly getting situated to figure out what are the next steps for my planbook at this time (which also includes having to see about taking care of dealing with paying an annual "paid hosting bill" to the folks at AwardSpace before the end of this month). But here's hoping that we don't have to wait that long afterwards because we've got an "anniversary month" to prepare for around here and I especially want to get back into my Super Nintendo music style arrangement groove again come February; hint: apparently there are some more songs from Super Mario Party Jamboree that have my attention, and I want to see if I can get the "arrangement cover process" on them underway in due time. Until then, keep it locked here on this site itself for any new developments as they occur for the 2025 year itself and if you have any further questions regarding what's been shared on this article itself, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me via this main contact online form. See you all next time around.
