January 2020 Greetings: Looking Back At 2019 While Preparing To Go Forward

Posted by Merit Celaire on Saturday, January 4, 2020 - 12:15 PM

Okay, friends; happy Saturday to all of you faithful friends/visitors/listeners of these music operations. Now that things have somewhat returned to normal routine after the Christmas holiday stuff from last week and the New Year's happenings from a few days ago, I can now snag the time to do our formal "monthly greetings entry" for the first month of this year. And of course, we've got to look back at the statistics made during the course of 2019 which is now in the history books. And they are as follows regarding music arrangements that were involved and other related factors:

* 36 new Super Nintendo music style arrangements added for these operations, involving...
* 8 featured Super Mario (and branched) video game installments (covering Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices)
* 12 involved Super Nintendo music instrument sets/arrangement stylings

As for which featured installments/arrangements for those statistics above dominated in 2019: on the Super Mario (and branched) videogame installment end, the winner is Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (having 14 covers from yours truly added). On the featured Super Nintendo music instrument set/arrangement styling end, that honor goes to Inspector Gadget (because of my using this set to do the majority of SNES music style arrangement covers targeting the score of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker). Once again, please note that this targeted activity during the course of last year; according to our "Music File Statistics" document at this time, all time statistics still have Super Paper Mario having the highest amount of music arrangements done under that title and Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge still dominating instrument set/arrangement styling usage (with The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse and Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! instrument sets following closely behind).

In short, it has definitely been a very exciting year with my picking up the pace during the course of the latter part doing covers targeting the musical scores of Mario Golf: World Tour and Mario Kart Tour. The only question to ask now is what will be in store for us planbook wise as we officially begin the 2020 year. God only knows in regards to that. But one thing is for certain: we've still got to address some music operations related matters as we close in on the 10th anniversary for it; that's another story altogether.

Meanwhile, yours truly is currently getting ready to get back in the music arrangement groove itself during the course of this weekend. I already am starting to target new songs that have been in my planbook's backlog for months; you faithful friends/followers/listeners will definitely not want to miss out on what I've got planned to share as the months forge ahead. Until then, I have to head out for now; you all have a great rest of your weekend, and let's hope and pray for the best during this 2020 year itself. See you all later.

2020 Is Now Here, And We're Ready To Go!

Posted by Merit Celaire on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 - 12:51 PM

What's happening, faithul friends/followers/listeners of these beloved music operations? After getting a much needed nap from checking out all the New Year's Eve specials (and staying up way late afterwards interacting with friends), I've now snagged the time to officially give my annual New Year's shoutout! As the title states: 2020 is now officially here, and we're ready for the challenges that may come this operation's direction.

I'm currently in "holiday mode" at this time as I write this; however, a formal "monthly greetings entry" is still being planned within the next few days looking back at past accomplishments/statistics made from the previous year. Additionally, in just about one to two months from now, we also have to prepare for this music operation's 10th anniversary; I'll elaborate on that more another time, but I want to make sure to give thanks to the Lord right now for this musical talent that He has given to me along with snagging this opportunity to be the maintainer of this videogame music fan community as a whole. And believe me when I say that this kind of work is something that I do not take for granted. And of course, I also thank all of you faithful friends/followers/listeners for continuing to stick with me through thick and thin (esepcially duing the course of the latter part of the previous year); we've all made it to this point. Now let's make sure to prepare and press forward as we officially begin the 2020 year itself starting right now.

I have to head out at this point; once again, as you have already noticed from the previous entry's announcement, the software that was running the "Forum Portal" section of our site was taken down as of last night while I'm searching for a replacement forum software candidate. But our other "interactive community angles" are still open for you all to join us for the 2020 year: our Twitter Portal (after submitting a "follower request", due to the account itself being in "Protected Status"), our Discord Portal (upon filling out a "Temporary Invite Link Request Form", which can be found here), our SoundCloud Portal, and our IRC channel (on EsperNet). Once again, we look forward to seeing you all once again during this brand new year and hope for those who haven't joined our aforementioned interactive communities, please do so (only if you meet the criteria of being a definite fan of Nintendo's Super Mario game series and if you're enjoying my doing Super Nintendo music style covers of the modern installments covering the Wii/Wii U consoles all the way up to the Nintendo Switch and occasional Mario mobile game installments like Mario Kart Tour). Thanks once again for all your support in advance, everyone, and I'll see you awesome people later. I'm out.

State of the "Forum Portal": Where We Go From Here

Posted by Merit Celaire on Monday, December 30, 2019 - 10:56 AM

As many of you are more than aware by now, the "Forum Portal" section of our site has been lying dormant for way too long now. I am definitely aware of this and am still determined to see about getting this addressed during the course of the coming 2020 year; I've always wanted this to be the "primary angle" to bring legitimate supporters of these operations together who are into my doing Super Nintendo music style covers of modern Super Mario and branched scores. I'm still very sure that those folks are out there; we just have to increase our efforts to find them, but that's another story altogether.

Here's the thing: as I just stated, the situation with our site's forums won't be dealt with until we have taken care of doing our website account materials backup (and other related materials for these operations) before the 2019 year is out. Once again, this also includes the current forum software that we have installed on the site including the related database for it.

However, after the backup itself has been accounted for, I'm sad to report that it's with a heavy heart I have to announce that the forum software itself is going to apparently be changed for the 2020 year as well. I personally have concerns regarding the current forum software that's being used for this site itself; plus, I've been informed by the hosting administration at Vimly Digital that even they have concerns regarding it as well (especially on the "security end"). Not to mention that in regards to the support forums for the software, it looks like the interest for it has been dwindling rapidly, and that's red flag number three.

Repeating: this is a situation that I will definitely address during the 2020 year, but not after I've taken care of the necessary backups to ensure everything's up to date before the 2019 year is officially in the history books. As always, I'll keep you posted on any new developments regarding this situation; but mark my words... the "Forum Portal" section of our site will be back. It's only a matter of when. Take care for now, everyone; I'll see you folks later.

UPDATE (12/31/2019, 7:55 P.M., (CST)): As of the date and time of this post update, the software that was running the "Forum Portal" section itself has now been officially taken down as we are now in search for the new forum software candidate to replace it during the course of the 2020 year. The official announcement stating more details on this matter can still be read here.

"Gallery List" Section: New Table Implemented on Main Menu Page

Posted by Merit Celaire on Sunday, December 29, 2019 - 08:45 AM

Been doing some site maintenance work on the backend since a few days ago and finished this during the course of Saturday afternoon, but only snagged the chance to officially announce it this morning: a new table has been implemented on the main page of our site's "Gallery List" section. Now it's finally like the rest of the other Gallery List pages themselves listing the available Super Nintendo music style arrangements that I've done for these operations so far (sorted out by the featured Mario and branched game installments), but still has the layout as the "list" that preceded it. The only difference is that this new table now has an additional column showing how many music arrangement files are currently available so far under that featured Mario/branched game installment in question.

Once again, you're able to view this new implemented table itself by going here. Take care for now, all; I'm out.
