Yet Another Major Videogame Music Fan Community Hit With "Legal Complaints"

Posted by Merit Celaire on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 - 09:27 AM

Good morning, friends; finally snagging the chance to catch up on general blog entry posts on this site music operations related (real life situations are still getting in the way, but pulling through slowly). But this one is not one of those posts, but still has a relation to all videogame music fan communities as a whole, including this one... which if my assumptions are correct, have been tragically impacted once again.

I'll redact the "name" of said person that was recently hit by "adversarial" forces, but I will say the following - they were also another "major user" via YouTube who was sharing a bunch of videogame music recordings either from the games themselves and/or soundtracks. And like I stated in this article from one to two years ago, their channel was in action for 10+ years (to the best of my knowledge) although I haven't been using them as much for "sources" to do my Super Nintendo music style arrangement covers for these operations.

But I will also say this, however: that same person recently got hit with a total of 1,000+ copyright claims regarding soundtracks that were (and still are) primarily owned by Nintendo; the worst part is, this wasn't the only time said person got an avalanche of complaints from Nintendo's legal departments (when they sent the red flags to YouTube's administration involving said user). But in both instances, it resulted in all the involved videos that apparently Nintendo owns the copyrighted materials to being blocked from viewing on YouTube. And just recently, when the YouTube channel owner got word of this news, it ultimately forced them to unfortunately shut the channel down.

Once again, as I stated in this article, I had no doubt in my conscience that when these kind of actions were done from the "legal side" of things (and of course, Nintendo is within their rights to protect all of their stuff which they rightfully have ownership to), we in the entire videogame music fan community have been put "on notice" and have been warned. And the legal departments at Nintendo have detetcted another "major threat" from said YouTube user whose account was shut down (by their own choice) which I have a very strong feeling was what the Nintendo legal departments were aiming for. That all said, this is still a very sad time for all of us in the videogame music fan community at large and now we have to definitely tread carefully from here on out because the Nintendo legal departments may be going after more users like this on YouTube if they are deemed a "major threat" to Nintendo's properties in general.

As for yours truly and for these music operations as a whole, you all know that it's my responsibility (and our operations' policy) to make sure that everything gets properly acknowledged on both featured musical scores for all games that Nintendo rightfully owns as well as the featured Super Nintendo music instrument sets being featured and used (because they are still owned by the respective users via copyright as well). Because if we don't do that, we'd literally be plagiarizing and that is the last kind of news that I want to encounter for all us here.

With that said, and if my assumptions are correct, the legal departments at Nintendo hit this said former YouTube user hard in hopes to send the message about this person committing "mass plagiarlism" of their stuff as well as possible "copyright theft". And this also reiterates the grim question of "if this person got hit with a massive amount of complaints via the YouTube platform, who's going to be next?"

So let's continue to proceed with caution and continue to give credits/acknowledgements where its due so we won't run into any more problems like this. Thanks in advance for your time to read this and I'll see you next time around. I'm out.

Latest "Twitter Portal" Polls Regarding Future SNES Music Style Arrangement Covers and a Recent "Mario Kart Tour" Song Cover

Posted by Merit Celaire on Friday, February 4, 2022 - 12:27 PM

Playing catch up regarding relaying of news here on this site because I've been dealing with a lot of "outside matters" the past few days, but rest assured that I'm not asleep on the backend. Especially since I'm still in the "planning stages" on how we're going to prepare to mark our "12th anniversary" of these beloved music operations as a whole later this month.

To the point of this posting: a few days ago, if you're a confirmed and active follower of our music operation's Twitter profile, then you may have noticed that a few days ago (this past Monday, to be exact), I posted two polls to conclude the previous month about certain matters; however, I've yet to receive response votes from you all on the said matters. The polls in question are the following:

Planning Assistance to Slowly Clear Most Of The "Music Arrangements Progress Page" Backlog
Poll Regarding The "Singapore Speedway" Song from Mario Kart Tour

Remember that if you do have a Twitter account and are a confirmed follower of us, then you're able to click the above links to see the posts and cast your votes while the polls themselves that have just been mentioned are still open. But this forewarning must still be said: your votes for these two aforementioned polls must be submitted before the end of 2/7/'22.

If you are not a "confirmed follower" of our respective music operation's profile on Twitter, then what are you waiting for? You're still able to go to this page and click on the "Follow" button to submit a follower request to me so that you can see the postings that we have made so far under our profile on the Twitter platform. Keep in mind that if there are any "follower requests" submitted for review during the course of this coming weekend after said announcement of this matter has been posted, I'll be reviewing them all during the course of this coming Monday (2/7/'22).

In any case, I still am ready and willing to hear from all of you voting wise in regards to these above mentioned polls via our Twitter profile page so please make sure you've taken care of your votes on them before they close before the end of this coming Monday. Many thanks in advance for your support on this and I'll see you awesome people later.

February 2022 Greetings: Possible Surprises For This "Anniversary Month"...? / Few Quick Related Tidbits

Posted by Merit Celaire on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 - 08:27 PM

Hi there, all you faithful friends and followers of this beloved music operations maintained by yours truly - we have now arrived and are starting the second month of the 2022 year (I know you all are like "Already?!?!?" because I was and still am in that reaction as well). But the most important part is that we have arrived at our "anniversary month" and am hoping we can see about getting some more Super Nintendo music styled arrangement content focused on songs from Nintendo's Super Mario videogame series' "modern" installments (including main games, "branched" games, and spinoff games as well). You don't want to miss a thing when new stuff goes live in due time so make sure that if you haven't done so already to have this site bookmarked in your browser; it'll be a great help down the road these next few months as we see about getting new content posted if all goes according to plan.

And speaking of new music arrangement content incoming as the weeks/months progress for the rest of this year, I am currently in the "planning stages" in regards to what I hope to focus on next. One part of the plan is in regards to what's still in my backlog (according to our "Music Arrangements Progress Page"); I'll elaborate more on that in a seperate post soon. The second part of the "planning stages" for this month is based on a certain "clue" I ran into as I was changing wall calendars in my house earlier this morning to mark this new month of February officially starting, have a look at this picture that I took below:

This is from the Super Mario 2022 Wall Calendar (as published by the folks at Abrams Books) that I purchased late last year after the Christmas holidays came to a close. As some of you may already know, I'm a avid fan of the female characters from Nintendo's Super Mario videogame series, so seeing that the three "lead girls" consisting of Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Rosalina taking the spotlight for this month of the calendar was beyond exciting for me personally. But this also aided in the "planning process" on what songs I might possibly be dealing with next... because rumor has it that a future song target apparently involves at least one of the three. The question is if the newly planned song covers will be taken care of and posted as a "shoutout" to a certain "holiday" coming up for this month or if we'll be able to get them shared in time for our anniversary later this month. You'll just have to wait and see; but fingers crossed we won't run into any roadblocks before this month itself is over.

Until then, I have to end this "monthly greetings entry" here for now. As always, if you have any further questions on what I may have elaborated here, please do not hesitate to send me an inquiry about it (but don't forget about the important announcement I made a few weeks back about Formspree's "form submission limit, though; right now, it has been reset to 50 open form submissions from you all - I still will keep you posted if we are about to reach that limit). Take care for now, all; see you awesome people next time around. I'm out.

"Resolution Assistance Center" Page Now In Action (With One Case Still In Need Of Your Help ASAP)

Posted by Merit Celaire on Thursday, January 20, 2022 - 08:04 PM

Was working on the backend getting these respective pages in action since earlier this morning, everyone - but tonight, I've snagged the chance to announce to all of you faithful friends/listeners/followers of these beloved music operations that an all-new section has now been added: the "Resolution Assistance Center".

The title is self explanatory: there may be some certain "issues/cases" (music operations related as a whole, of course) in which yours truly might be in need of some additional help from all of you out there to see about getting the legitimate leads that might be needed to get said issue/case "resolved" over time.

And speaking of which, the implementation of this new section of the site has our first "issue/case" attached with it: to this day, we're still in need of finding any confirmations on who are the original song composers for Mario Kart TourThis page housing the Super Nintendo music style arrangement covers that I've done so far of certain songs from that game still has the "TBA" status in the "Composer" field for quite a while now with no breakthroughs in sight to answer this pressing question. But if any of you have any possible and legitimate leads that might be what I'm looking for to update certain pages accordingly with the original music composer information related to Mario Kart Tour, please don't hesitate to let me know immediately so I can investigate further and verify the sources. Thanks in advance for your assistance in this case (and any other future "issues/cases" that may arise for this all new section of our site) and I'll see you all later.
