Catching Up, Part 2: The Nintendo Related 2019 Calendars Holding Music Arrangement Planning "Clues" For Us...?

Posted by Merit Celaire on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 08:52 PM

Now this time around, I'm snagging the time to prepare ourselves for looking forward to the 2019 year itself (and thank the Lord that I'm still able to make this post during the latter part of this month!).

Above images are of the actual Nintendo related calendars that I purchased in late December of 2018 to prepare for this 2019 year itself. (Top image is for the front view; bottom image is for the back view.)

So here's the case: during the course of late last month (and just before 2018 came to a close), I managed to see about getting two wall calendars to place in my house. And it should come as no surprise that they are both Nintendo related. Fun fact: every time I look at these calendars, they are the energy that I need to make sure to keep my passion for these music operations alive. The below images show which two calendars in question that I've targeted.

The first calendar that I purchased is obviously to target my main enthusiasm for Nintendo's leading videogame series, Super Mario (more information about this calendar in question can be viewed here at the Abrams Books website). Okay, okay, I know that you all may think: "Yeah, M. C., this looks basic; why would you get this calendar in the first place?" Because this is part of that energy that I'm aiming for in terms of doing these music operations... targeting the music of the modern games involved in question to do my Super Nintendo music style covers for! And that mission is still going to reign true for the 2019 year itself for the games involved. But what scores in question might be targeted... is a secret! You'll see what I have in store to share with you as the months forge ahead (and yes, this even involves games done for the Nintendo Switch console as well, if Super Mario Odyssey is any evidence of that). But enough about that angle; allow me to share with you the other Nintendo calendar that I managed to purchase:

This above image is of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System 2019 Wall Calendar (more information about this can be read here on the Abrams site). Here's the thing, though: on the Super Mario game series' related side, the creators gave a shoutout to two highly popular games when the Super Nintendo game system was all the rage back in the early 1990s - Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart. Make no mistake, even Nintendo themselves are making sure that we don't forget these special gems for the Mario series as a whole. However, on my beloved music operations front, I've keep getting inquiries asking "you're doing Super Nintendo music style covers of modern Super Mario and branched games for the Wii/Wii U/Nintendo 3DS/Nintendo Switch, so why aren't you using these instrument sets from the Super Nintendo Mario games themselves?" I'm currently thinking of doing a FAQ article for this site down the road, but the reason why I haven't touched those games in question because they're very, very unique and I don't want to get the instruments sets of them together unless some very special situations warrant my having to use them. But from the clues that I'm gathering so far with this calendar being the recent one, rumor has it that I might have to prepare to go that route for certain modern Mario games soon. Let me be clear: I am NOT abadoning my traditional route (despite some folks trying to get me to do otherwise) because I still want to make sure that my Super Nintendo music style covers of modern Super Mario (and branched) music match the original energy/styling heard in the games themselves that are featured. But recently, as I stated many times before, we've run into evidence that for certain games, my "traditional route" isn't going to cut it.

Long story short: is this going to be the year that the music instrument sets of the Super Nintendo Mario games might have to be touched...?! Oh the drama! God only knows, but it seems this calendar in question may be leading us in that direction. We'll just have to wait and see.

That's all I have to see about sharing with you all regarding these two calendars for 2019. Another long story short: after I finish rejuvenate and catch up to prepare for my Super Nintendo music style arrangement procedure "journey" for this new year, I'm definitely looking forward to check my planbook and finally see about attacking my planbook again regarding which songs from Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch Mario (and branched) games will get the "arrangement/cover treatment" this year. Can't wait; and I hope you'll join me for this ride. Until then, see you all later, everyone; I'm out.

Catching Up: Looking Back At Our 2018 Music Arrangements Activity

Posted by Merit Celaire on Monday, January 21, 2019 - 01:45 PM

Now that we're back to "normal operations" starting today after all the hurdles that we had to deal with since a few months back, I can start to do some catch up so I can really prepare to get back into the music arrangement processing groove for the 2019 year. And one of the articles that was planned for this "catch up" process is looking back on the featured Super Nintendo music styled arrangements that we have added for the previous year.

To review, the statistics were as follows to conclude the 2018 year:

* 3 game pages were added to our music operations involving these three Mario videogame installments: Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, and Luigi's Mansion
* From those three pages listed above, a total of 28 Super Nintendo music arrangement files were added amongst them.
* There was also 1 Super Nintendo music style arrangement that was added covering another song for an existing game page we have during the middle of last year (which targeted a song from the Game & Wario musical score).

And it should come as no surprise that during the course of last year's music arrangement activity itself, the score of Super Mario Odyssey dominated the scene. Not to mention that we had our first two Super Nintendo music style arrangements covering the vocal songs from that same game, including the "Jump Up, Super Star!" theme song for Super Mario Odyssey! If you haven't had the chance to check my covers of those two songs that I did, make sure to check this article out for the details.

The only question now is where do we go from here for the 2019 year itself (and our upcoming 9th anniversary that's going to hit in just a few weeks from now)? That's something that I'll cover in another blog entry in the next few days, so watch out for it. Until then, I'm gone for now.

Music Operations Mateirals Backup Procedures Finished; What's Planned for the Rest of January

Posted by Merit Celaire on Thursday, January 17, 2019 - 09:04 AM

Hey, good Thursday morning to all of you out there, awesome Super Nintendo music style fans as well as Super Mario videogame series enthusiasts. As of the date and time of this posting, we have finally completed our necessary backup procedures for these entire music operations including the site, forum database, and music files in general (including source files on the backend). So all is set for all of us to get back to normal operations procedure starting today. But there are a few announcements that I need to address, which are listed below.

(1) The "Forum Portal" Section Remains Closed At This Time
Because of recent happenings regarding our music operations in general before this posting (along with my trying to catch up on missed planned content on all angles related to it), the "forum portal" of this website remains closed for the time being. Although I know it's painful news to hear since it's still the planned primary angle of contact to gather fans/followers in the "community setting", the remaining angles of contacting me and others under these operations still remain in play which include email form, IRC channel, Twitter, and Discord. I hope we can see about getting everything back up to speed so we can get the forums itself back in action; however, there's no ETA at this time in terms of when it will be back in play there. Will keep you all posted regarding that situation.

(2) About the "Catch-Up on Planned Content" Itself for January
As stated earlier in section 1, the "planned content" itself in question was our looking back on the previous year for our music operations (and man, what a year it was in terms of the newest Super Nintendo music style arrangements that I've added for these operations). I'll elaborate on that further after regaining strength from this ordeal that I had to deal with since late November/early December of last year. Hopefully, we can get that article itself posted during the course of next week itself, so watch for it.

(3) Preparing for our Music Operation's 9th Anniversary
The clock is already ticking regarding this matter: in a little more than a month from now, these music operations as a whole is going to reach it's 9th anniversary. Although I'm trying my best to get back to "full strength" for the music arrangement procedures themselves for this new year overall, I still have to work on getting new "portals" in play, especially for when we start our operation's 9th anniversary itself. Details are still under lock and key, but if the clues are telling me correctly - and I know I've even said this to myself many times before - the "environments" have been shifting in terms of how to get the word out about us and if we don't answer to those "demands", the odds won't be in our favor down the road. I refuse to let those "adversarial odds" happen; I'm still currently doing investigations/preparations to get ready for answering those "challenges" as the 9th anniversary itself arrives. I'm looking forward to meeting them head on to make sure we still keep our love for Super Nintendo music style arrangement stuff alive, especially in terms of my passion for covering modern Super Mario (and branched) musical scores in this case. Many have tried to stop us on this journey, but with God as my witness, even though I've been struggling to keep this alive, my passion for this endeavor has not budge and I personally thank those of you for sticking with me here. I can assure you that all this has not been done in vain.

All that said, and what was also stated earlier, even though our main area of interactivity is currently out of action at this time (which, of course, is the forums), that doesn't mean that you're not able to get in contact with me via other means for this means. Once again, I'm still accepting your email inquiries for music operation suggestions for the 2019 year; plus don't forget our other "interactivity" portals including Twitter, IRC, SoundCloud and Discord. The time has come for all of us to band together and continue to ensure that our passion for Super Nintendo music style arrangement stuff still lives on for this year, especially for these music operations which will continue to cover modern Super Mario (and branched) game musical scores done for the Wii, WiiU, Nintendo 3DS, and now, the Nintendo Switch console. I thank you all in advance for your support and look forward to getting back on this journey itself starting next week. Until then, stay positive for the rest of this January, everyone, and I'll see you all next time. Take care for now.

Where Things Stand As Of 1/14/2019

Posted by Merit Celaire on Monday, January 14, 2019 - 10:11 AM

Morning, everyone; just snagging the chance to get everyone up to speed regarding what's been going on with these music operations as of late. I know that many of you are asking when is yours truly going to finally get back in the "music arrangement groove" for the 2019 year itself. Believe me, I'm asking the same question myself; I'm happy to announce that we are almost to the point of getting back to normal around here.

First, we are near the finishing point of getting the music operation's "home base website" and forum database for it completely backed up; the "materials" in the backup itself are prior to this posting. But it'll defintiely be the "safeguard" that we need before we really get back to normal procedures around these parts (and believe me, I'm going to be more than ready for when that day comes; hopefully before the end of this month itself).

Second, the other part of the backup process is making sure that my music "tracker source files" and the finalized music files themselves that we've hosted on these operations so far are up to date. The plan is to check on that after the main backup process itself for this site/forums is done.

If all goes to plan, we should be back to "normal action" for these music operations next week. Thanks once more for your patience throughout this whole ordeal that we've been facing since a few months back; here's hoping we'll be back to positive ground when all of these matters are completely behind us. I'm gone for now.
