Extras - Other Stuff - Music Arrangements Outlook (Nintendo Direct - 2/13/'19)

Posted by Merit Celaire on Friday, February 15, 2019 - 04:43 PM

It's a brand new year, and the first Nintendo Direct for it got posted just a few days ago (which you're able to view here, in case you weren't able to check it out). Now the question for these music operations as a whole is in regards to the featured Mario (main and branched) installments that were showcased in said video... what's the "outlook status" for them at this time? Is yours truly making plans down the road to choose Super Nintendo music style arrangement candidates from this bunch? And what about certain installments that I might have done covers before in the Super Nintendo music style? It's time to reveal those answers, starting now. Ready or not, here we go.

Note that I'm going in order of the video itself regarding how the installments listed below were shown.

So the presentation itself started with the announcement that Super Mario Maker 2 is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch console, targeted for a June 2019 release. On the gameplay front, I'm definitely looking forward to checking this out when I get my Nintendo Switch console itself in due time. However, on the music arrangement operations side here, so far, I haven't had any possible targets related to the musical score from its predecessors (which are obviously Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS), but I am still thinking about it at this time. One thing is for certain (and something that I may have stated many times before, which may be iterated once in our upcoming "anniversary statement" in just a few days from now) - this is one of those very rare cases where my "traditional strategies" of the music arrangement procedures on all Super Mario Maker installments introduced thus far; and the upcoming Super Mario Maker 2 installment is no exception to that rule. That said, outlook wise on the music arrangement planning front related to this upcoming game (and the Super Mario Maker predecessors) is still a "LOW PRIORITY", but make no mistake that I'm not ignoring this either. I just need to get many other things off my Super Nintendo music arrangement backlog for these operations before I see about what I can do here. Stay tuned.

And speaking of working to get stuff of my backlog that's been staring me in the face since almost one to two years now, the next installment that got featured later down the road was Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. On the gameplay side in general, it was announced that updates for the Nintendo Switch version are incoming (for those of you who have that version of the game). Thing is, I still have my copy of the game's original Wii U version to this day; however, I am still looking forward to getting the Nintendo Switch version and the Nintendo 3DS version in due time after I get my Switch console itself (and also after I recover my 3DS and the games that were stolen from me since one to two years ago).

But enough about that; what about the current "music arrangement outlook" for this Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker installment as a whole? You can bet I'm still determined to knock the backlog down on this for sure! However, the "priority status" of this is still a "MEDIUM PRIORITY"; regardless, I'm hoping that in the coming weeks after I deal with some "personal matters" outside of these operations that I can make a dent on the statistics shown on this page. Real life situations have consistently gotten in my way hampering my efforts to a crawl, but rest assured that I have plenty of candidates that I'm targeting for the Super Nintendo music style arrangement treatment here. In short, my "adventuring" with Captain Toad, Toadette, and the "Toad Brigade" continues on the music arrangement front here; I'm not through with this installment yet!

And finally, we have Yoshi's Crafted World, which is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch console on March 29, 2019. The game itself does look interesting and take some clues from the previous Yoshi game installment (which is Yoshi's Woolly World, for the Wii U console). However, on the music arrangement outlook front, at this time, I'm still not hearing anything yet that would have me see about adding stuff to my planbook as the months forge ahead for this year, so like the last entry I did which talked about this, my status on this is still a "PASS".

So to quickly review and make this long story short on the music arrangement planning front in the coming weeks and months ahead: one game is in "LOW PRIORITY" status (Super Mario Maker 2, along with the predecessors before it), one is still in "MEDIUM PRIORITY" status (Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker), and one is still a "PASS" (Yoshi's Crafted World). Things might change, but it would have to take a rare event for it to happen, especially in the case of Yoshi's Crafted World and maybe Super Mario Maker 2. But you can bet that I'll be making sure to clear that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker backlog, so be on the lookout for more news talking about that soon as we press on for this year.

Of course, if you have read this article and still have any questions for me regarding what was discussed on this posting, please don't hesitate to send me an emailcontact me via IRC in our channel, or let me know via respective channels on our Discord server. Take care for now, everyone; I'm out.
