Extras - Other Stuff - Music Arrangements Outlook (Nintendo Direct - 9/13/'18)

Posted by Merit Celaire on Friday, September 21, 2018 - 11:57 AM

Okay, friends; so it's been a little over a week since the latest general Nintendo Direct got posted letting us know about what's coming at us down the road targeting the fall and winter months of this year, as well as announcing new Mario installments to start off the 2019 year itself. If you haven't seen that posting yet, you're able to check it out right here. But like our first article for this section, this is going to discuss with you all what my "music arrangements outlook" is for the Mario games that have been featured. And as you'll find out, some "outlook levels" may not have changed, but that doesn't mean that I'm not looking forward to facing the Super Nintendo music style arrangement challenges involving said "featured installments" head on.

First, let's start out with the first "featured installment" that was originally released during the summer months back in late June.

So, it's been a few months since the Mario Tennis Aces installment got released onto store shelves for the Nintendo Switch console. And like what was stated here, my music arrangements outlook involving the score for this installment still has not changed. My doing Super Nintendo music style arrangements targeting the score of Mario Tennis Aces is still in a "MEDIUM PRIORITY" status according to my planbook on the backend and so far, there's one new music instrument set that's going to be featured here soon for most of the songs from this game that I have arranged so far. This page at last check also shows evidence that stuff targeting this game is on its way to these operations soon; I'm just trying to snag the time to target more stuff under this game as well. I'll keep you all posted as always on the progress made here.

Next up is Super Mario Party (which is about to hit release week in just a few weeks from now; target date is October 5th, 2018). My outlook in regards to doing Super Nintendo music style arrangements targeting songs from this game is still in the "LOW PRIORITY" status, but that's doesn't mean that I'll be ignoring what the composers have wrote for this game's musical score. As stated in the previous outlook article that I posted during the E3 2018 event a few months ago, I've done one song so far in terms of a Mario Party installment (specifically Mario Party 10), so it would not surprise me to find some rare candidates for this upcoming Super Mario Party game itself as well. Keeping fingers crossed that the overall musical score itself won't be a disappointment, everyone. Stay tuned.

The third installment being targeted in this outlook is the Nintendo 3DS version/port of the Nintendo Gamecube game Luigi's Mansion. Now I've honestly never tried the original Gamecube version itself because really scary games are not my thing, personally. However, there's been at least one or two songs from the game itself which I find to be very addictive to listen to, so I'm keeping fingers crossed that they'll be heard in the Nintendo 3DS version of this game too. Other than that, my outlook on doing Super Nintendo music styled arrangement stuff targeting stuff from the 3DS version of Luigi's Mansion is going to be placed in the "LOW PRIORITY" status for the time being.

The fourth game being discussed for this article is the recently announced New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch console (which is a port of the New Super Mario Bros. U game for the Nintendo WiiU console, as well as the New Super Luigi U game for the same system). This is the thing, however: the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe game itself is planned to hit store shelves in early January of next year... and I have the assumption that the musical score for this game is going to be the absolute same like the WiiU original installments for the most part. So, like what I did when the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe installment came on the scene for the Nintendo Switch console, this page is going to have to be split as well (meaning the original songs will be held on the WiiU version of the page, while any new music stuff done for the Switch port will be placed on its own page there). Other than that, unfortunately, music arrangements outlook wise, I'm still putting this in a "LOW PRIORITY" status for the time being.

And last, but not least, Yoshi's Crafted World (also in the works for the Nintendo Switch console, slated for early 2019). Also I do see potential in this game itself, I've honestly never played the predecessor installment (under the name of Yoshi's Woolly World for the WiiU console). Not only that, but with all due respect, the musical score itself from the WiiU game didn't get my attention to choose possible candidates from there, and this is the same result I'm getting in terms of the upcoming Yoshi's Crafted World installment as well. So in short, I'm going to have to give this upcoming installment a "PASS".

So to review: 1 featured installment on this article is still under "MEDIUM PRIORITY" status, 3 are in "LOW PRIORITY" status, and 1 is a "PASS". But who knows? Things might change, or these status may stay where they are when the games themselves get released down the road (if they haven't been released onto store shelves yet). But one thing is clear: yours truly is on the lookout all the time for new candidates to work on, so you know where to look when any new developments occur. As always, if you have any further questions after reading this article and need me to clarify further on my stances on the above mentioned installments, please don't hesitate to contact me via email form, Twitter, IRC, the forums, or even our Discord. Other than that, thanks for reading this outlook from yours truly, and I'll see you all later. I'm gone for now.
