Extras - Other Stuff - Music Arrangements Outlook (E3 2019: "Luigi's Mansion 3" / "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020")

Posted by Merit Celaire on Sunday, June 16, 2019 - 02:25 PM

All right, friends; yours truly is here to share my "music arrangements outlook" verdicts in regards to two featured upcoming installments heading our way for the Nintendo Switch console later this year. And as you all are very well aware from this video that we all checked out last Tuesday morning, we have to be on the lookout for two of them: one that's the latest installment for a certain "family" of games for the Mario series as a whole, and the other one that's preparing to be the latest installment of a certain group of games that make up the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games crossover installment series. Although I'm looking forward to both on the general front, what does my planbook have to say in regards to preparing for possible Super Nintendo music style arrangement candidates between these two installments? Read further to find out.

So, first up, we've got the Luigi's Mansion 3 installment currently in development and planned to hit our Nintendo Switch console systems for later this year. If you all can recall from a few months ago, in late October of last year, I did Super Nintendo music style arrangements targeting the musical score of the original Luigi's Mansion game (more specifically, the 3DS remake/port of it based on the Nintendo Gamecube launch title itself); if you haven't checked out the stuff that I've done in relation to that game yet, head on over to this page. And so far, there hasn't been anything that has stuck out to me to target doing SNES music style covers from the 3DS follow-up of that game itself (which would be Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon). However, in the case of Luigi's Mansion 3, from the musical clues that I've heard so far from related trailers and recent videos from the "Nintendo Treehouse Live: E3 2019" video segments, it looks like this may be something I'll have to keep under my radar in the months to come. Since this game itself is still in development, I can't declare a "priority status" on this one just yet; however, in the meantime, in regards to my planbook, this falls under a "PREPARE ACCORDINGLY" situation.

And now we get to the other upcoming installment that's got my attention: the latest addition to the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games family of crossover installments - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020. Here's the thing: during the history of these music operations, I have only done one Super Nintendo music style arrangement under this family, and it was targeting a song from the Mario & Sonic at the Olmypic Winter Games (Vancouver 2010) installment for the Wii console (head for this page to check out the song in question). And chances of me finding more songs for me to do Super Nintendo music style arrangements targeting the score of this game (and other Mario & Sonic Olympics installments that were done for the Wii/Wii U consoles) are still going to be rare to come by. However, in the case of this upcoming installment for the Nintendo Switch, I can't downplay it just yet. The game itself is still in development, and hopefully, we'll hear more news about what it has to offer for us on the music end in the months to come before the scheduled November 2019 release. Like my status for the Luigi's Mansion 3 paragraph above, this also falls under a "PREPARE ACCORDINGLY".

So in conclusion: at the time of this writing/posting, both the upcoming "Luigi's Mansion 3" and "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020" installments now currently fall under the "PREPARE ACCORDINGLY" statuses. This means that there is potential that Super Nintendo music style arrangement candidates are possibly waiting to be found within these two game's musical scores, but are not ready for me to declare an actual "priority status" on them just yet. But as the months forge ahead from now, we'll see if those said "priorities" for music arrangement procedures will be given in due time.

Until then, as always, keep it bookmarked on our site's front page for any new developments regarding these two installments in question as they happen; until then, I'm out for now. See you folks later, and thanks for reading.
