Extras - Other Stuff - Instrument Set Clarifications ("Disney's Bonkers")

Posted by Merit Celaire on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 - 09:10 PM

NOTE: This specified "instrument set clarification" was originally posted as a blog entry on our previous site layout (from June 10, 2013); we have managed to recover the "source file" of this entry and do the necessary edits/modifications for its relaying to this current "home base website"'s blog entry system.

So for this said clarification in question here: as you may have already guessed, the game I'm referring to is the one that the folks at Capcom did for the Super Nintendo when the Disney's Bonkers cartoon was in full action during the early 1990s. I honestly haven't had a chance to play it, but I did happen to check out a few videos and also hear the musical score from it. As for the packaging in question, you Super Nintendo fans may recall that the packaging itself looked like this on the store shelves:

Disney's Bonkers (SNES Version) (Capcom/Disney)

The musical score from that SNES game was also wacky in nature and it made sense in terms of matching the theme of the game itself. When I listened to the said musical score via videos posted on YouTube, I snagged the time months ago to gather my "internal sources" and get the instruments used for this set when Norihiko Togashi from Capcom composed the original score for this game. I still encourage you guys to search on YouTube to find the said videos to listen to this music in question (as well as check out the gameplay videos as well to also get an idea about how the game itself operates; I've done said process; however, I still wish that I was convinced back then so that I would have seen about adding this to my Super Nintendo game library itself as well).

But enough of that - here's the main focus to keep on topic of this music arrangement endeavor of mine: you may also recall that there have been a few music arrangement targets that I've done using this Disney's Bonkers music instrument set. You may remember that this set in question made it's "debut" here targeting two arrangement "versions" of a certain song heard from the Nintendo 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land! The song itself in question covered the "Special World 8" music (which amazingly enough gives reference and a slight remix to that "Mario Drawing Song" that you might have heard about as well). If you haven't checked the arrangements that I've have done so far using the set targeting the two versions of said song for Super Mario 3D Land, I would advise you to go here and look for the links "Special World 8 - Main Map" and "Special World 8 - Crown Map".

Also, on a side note - it's amusing to note that the majority of arrangements that I've done so far in relation to Super Mario 3D Land also used the SNES music instrument set of Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind (Accolade/Solid Software) because the main character is a bobcat just like how Bonkers (the main character in the Disney's Bonkers SNES game) is also a bobcat! Amazing, huh?

However, back to the Disney's Bonkers SNES music instrument set focus - of course, this was obviously not the last time the set got involved in my arrangement work here. In fact, it has been involved in certain arrangements I've done targeting songs from the Super Mario 3D World game (for the Wii U). And it looks like we're not going to stop targeting other songs from both Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World to do arrangement work using the Disney's Bonkers instrument set any time soon. As always, we'll let you know when new arrangements post using this instrument set (which of course, won't be limited to the Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World games alone). Later, all!
