Extras - Other Stuff - Music File Statistics Article Update (1/18/'21): The Many Upsets of November/December 2020
Posted by Merit Celaire on Monday, January 18, 2021 - 07:52 PM
All right, friends, before I start to get into this article posting itself, I should give a forewarning right now that this may get to be a little image heavy in terms of what I'm trying to demonstrate here. I've finally snagged time during the course of the date of this posting to get our newest article done covering latest happenings that have occured as of late related to our "Music Arrangement File Rankings" statistics document. And even though I might have touched on this in the news article posting that I added earlier this month, the article itself that you're reading right now is mainly to give additional evidence that thanks to certain breakthroughs that I have run into which allowed me to slowly get back into my SNES music style arrangement groove for the latter half of 2020 (despite the COVID-19 "roadblocks" that we all are all too familiar with), this document literally got rocked during the course of late November and most of December. As always, click on the corresponding thumbnail images to view larger versions of them.
With all that said, let's start with the first music file arrangement additions update of the said targeted period that was done back on 11/23/'20.
(1) Paper Mario: Color Splash
If you all can recall, on that day of 11/23/'20, a new featured game page for these operations got into action housing Super Nintendo music style arrangements that I've done which target songs from the Wii U game Paper Mario: Color Splash. Before the document was affected by the file additions, certain featured "instrument sets" that I've used for these operations were tied. But look at the first image below.
The above image shows that in regards to the music arrangement files that I've done covering Paper Mario: Color Splash so far, the featured installment made its debut at the #16 rank (in a tie with Mario Kart Arcade GP DX). But the main target here is what occured on the "Featured SNES Music Instrument Sets" side of the document, and if anything, this was only giving a hint as to what was coming. The file additions on that day resulted in some jumps; the most noteworthy ones being: Konami's Batman Returns (SNES Version) making a jump to the #3 position (it was at #4 before), as well as Konami's The Adventures of Batman & Robin (SNES Version) which made a jump to the #10 spot (it was at #12, tied with Konami's Tiny Toon Adventures: Wacky Sports Challenge).
(2) Paper Mario: The Origami King
But as what was mentioned earlier, this was only the beginning. Fast forward one week later on 11/30/'20 when yours truly was starting to post SNES music style covers targeting the score Paper Mario: The Origami King.
Not only did the featured Mario game installment make its debut at #15 upon my posting the respective files for these operations, but the SNES music instrument sets that was made for the Disney's Aladdin game (Capcom/Disney) took a huge jump as well! Before that, the said instrument set was between the #10 - #11 position.
After adding those two game pages to close out November, the focus turned to clearing out the majority of said music arrangement file backlog stuff during the course of December. The only major angle was that it involved the final game page addition of 2020 for this site and our music operations as a whole: the Nintendo 3DS game Mario Sports Superstars. This also involved the addition of newly featured SNES music instrument sets as well (including, but not limited to: David Crane's Amazing Tennis (Absolute Entertainment/Imagineering), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition (Bandai), Captain America and the Avengers (Data East/Mindscape/Realtime Associates), Biker Mice From Mars (Konami), Super Soccer Champ (Taito), and Goal! (Jaleco). But let's have these following images speak for themselves, sorted out by the dates said music arrangement file additions were made.
(3) Mario Tennis Open
First up: the additions made covering two songs from Mario Tennis Open (posted on 12/14/'20):
When the two Mario Tennis Open song covers got posted for these operations, the featured game installment itself took a slight jump from the #25 spot to the #23 spot. Additionally, on the featured SNES music instrument set end, this was the same day that the set which was created for the David Crane's Amazing Tennis game made its debut here as well (currently sitting in the #25 position, tied with Konami's Gradius III).
(4) Super Mario 3D Land / Luigi's Mansion
The next two update additions that were posted during the course of 12/21/'20 and 12/22/'20 was targeting songs from Super Mario 3D Land (the Nintendo 3DS game) and the Luigi's Mansion game (the Gamecube launch installment as well as the 3DS port based off of it). I'll spare posting the corresponding images from the document during that time; only to say that the one song from Super Mario 3D Land that was recently covered allowed for a SNES music instrument set made for Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind (Accolade/Solid Software) to be tied at #17 (with The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie, developed and published by Capcom); this also had the featured Mario game installment there tied at #10 (with Paper Mario: The Origami King). Not only that, one additional cover that was done focused on a song from Luigi's Mansion allowed for the featured game installment for these operations to be tied in the #6 spot (along with Mario Tennis Aces); on the SNES music instrument set side, this also caused Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts (Capcom) to be tied in the #22 spot with Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time.
(5) Mario Sports SuperstarsBut hold on to your hats, everyone; we're almost finished. This next one is very important to post a corresponding image below... because it targets all the 10+ SNES music style arrangement covers that I've added on 12/23/'20 targeting songs from Mario Sports Superstars (the Nintendo 3DS game). And the numbers in question there speak for themselves (which also includes a whole bunch of Super Nintendo music instrument set additions that were featured for the first time as well).
As you can see, when the 13 new Super Nintendo music styled arrangements targeting songs from Mario Sports Superstars got added for these operations, the featured game installment itself made its debut on our respective rankings document at #13 (tied with Mario Kart 7 and Wario Land: Shake It!). But look at the other side of the aforementioned image above. There were a total of five new Super Nintendo instrument sets making their featured debuts here as well for certain song covers targeting music from the Mario Sports Superstars game which include: Biker Mice From Mars(Konami), Super Soccer Champ (Taito), Captain America and the Avengers (Data East/Mindscape/Realtime Associates), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition (Bandai), and Goal!(Jaleco). This even resulted in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers SNES game (which was also published by Bandai) to become tied at #17 (with Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie).
(6) Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
Last, but certainly not least... one day before the Christmas holidays period arrived to start closing out the 2020 year itself, the final Super Nintendo music arrangement posting was made covering a song from Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. A corresponding image is not needed here because our related document is current reflecting this addition made with the featured installment making its debut at the #27 rank (tied with Mario Super Sluggers, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Vancouver 2010), New Super Mario Bros. 2, and Mario Party 10). And it shouldn't bear mentioning, but the featured SNES music instrument set of Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge (LJN/Software Creations) is still going on strong in the #1 spot creating a huge cap between all of the other "competing sets" featured for these music operations as a whole.
And the thing is, after all of this explanation on said article (in which if you were able to read the entire contents and checked out word for word, I seriously congratulate you for making it this far)... as of the date and time of the posting itself here, it's only just setting up what new Super Nintendo music style arrangements could be coming on the horizon for this all new 2021 year. There are still some planned targets in my backlog from last year according to this page on the site; plus, I have yet to do another general article announcing how I'm going to plan on possibly doing new Super Nintendo music style arrangement stuff targeting possible songs from the Nintendo Switch port of Super Mario 3D World (which, more specifically is titled Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury). Add to the fact that there might be some new song targets in the works focused on songs from featured game installments that we have listed here, and you can bet that over time as the months forge ahead for the all-new 2021 year, this document will continue to get rocked on both rankings categories even further as new postings get made.
Until then, thanks once again for your time in reading this article posting itself, and I'll see you awesome people next time around. I'm gone for now.
