Forum Portal: Board Rules/Guidelines

Posted by Merit Celaire on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 - 01:24 PM

LAST UPDATED: July 26, 2018

Please make sure to read this document in its entirety; by reading and/or posint messages on these boards for the site, you are agreeing to the aforementioned Board Rules/Guidelines set forth in this document, as well as to help us comply with the Terms of Service/Usage for VimlyHostFailure to comply with the rules set forth in any of these documents may result in your account on this part of the site being temporaily suspended or permanently banned depending on case(s) that are reported to the forum administration/staff.

Also, take note that these board rules/guidelines are subject to modification at any time, so it's your responsibility to check this page often for any changes that are made. While we may also notify the community on the "Bulletin Board" at times (under the "Community Headquarters") category, this recommendation still stands in terms doing your part to stay in the know regarding what is expected out of each member who reads and/or posts on these boards. Thanks in advance for your cooperation in making sure these boards remain a suitable place for everyone.

=====================================

While this site and the attached forums for it might be targeted toward a certain audience and that we expect that the members that sign up here to use common sense in their posts after creating their user account, it is still necessary to posts these rules/guidelines for everyone's safety and understanding. As stated above, each forum user on this site is expected to adhere to the following rules stated below:

(1) G-Rated "Family Safe" Material Only, Please
The entire site, including these forums are intended to have content that is suitable for all age groups. In short, refrain from using any forbidden language/profanity/expletives and don't post anything that is considered "not safe for work (NSFW)". Also, these forums have a "word censor" feature in place, so you are not allowed to bypass that feature under any circumstances. As for image content in posts, if you see any material that breaches the "family safe" rule here, make sure to notify us immediately about it so that we can take care of it in a timely manner.

(2) No Posts That Promote Illegal Activity

This includes posts that direct to warez/software cracks, ROMs, ISOs, etc. Posts/topics that are reported to us regarding illegal content whill be deleted on sight; repeat offenders may have adverse action taken on their accounts for such cases.

(3) Treat Fellow Members With Courtesy and Respect
As stated earlier, even though these forums are targeted for a certain audience and folks are expected to use common while making their posts, there will still be some cases where a certain user attempts to disrupt the positive flow of the community (via flaming/harassing other user). That's why this still music be said to let members know to "think before making that post" so that you don't offend other users in the community.

(4) Refrain From Flooding The Boards With Unneeded Content
Otherwise known as "spamming", this is where the user attempts to make a lot of unnecessary topics/posts that just do nothing but clog up the forums itself making it very annoying for other users to find legitimate topics (and double annoying for the forum administration/staff to clean up the boards). Make sure that the topics/replies to topics that you make have a purpose behind them before hitting that "Post Topic/Message" button.

(5) No Advertising Of Other Websites Permitted In Posts Themselves
This rule mainly is targeting the case of those that sign up just to say about their personal website(s) that they maintain; these forums are not the place for that kind of content. You are, however, able to post a link to your site in the "Signature" field for your account, as long as it still complies with all other rules set herein on this document.

(6) Signature/Avatar Image Restrictions

For signature images, you're only allowed to have one, and the image itself should not exceed 400 pixels wide x 150 pixels long. For avatar images, the system is currently set that your avatar must not exceed 150 pixels wide x 150 pixels long. For both signature and avatar content, the "family safe" rule also applies in this area as well; the forum administration reserves the right to remove images that might be deemed "questionable".

(7) Make Sure To Check Out Those "Pinned" Threads
If there are any threads that are posted by the forum administration/staff and are "pinned", chances are there's something important that needs to be read before you begin making posts on that specified board. In most cases, it might be additional rules for that board, or certain topics that have been created to prevent a "flood" of topics talking about the same thing.

(8) Once Account Per Person, Please
Rule headline says all; this is put in place to manage the users who sign up for the forums here. Some folks may try and attempt and create "duplicate accounts", which is seriously frowned upon. Not to mention that the forum administration/other forum staff have access to tools that can detect if a person has been trying to escape disciplinary action when a certain case calls for it. Additionally, any account that's found to be a "duplicate" of an original account is subject to be banned upon discovery of legitimate evidence presented to us. So please, once again, you are entitled to one and only one account for this part of the site.

(9) Registration Process: Only Legitimate Usernames/Email Addresses Are Allowed, No Exceptions
This rule header says it all; in the past months before official implementation of this rule, we've had too many cases of bots and/or other folks abusing this part of the site by creating questionable usernames and/or using suspicious email addresses, including those that are primarily used as "disposable email addresses". This rule will be strictly enforced; anyone found to be in breach of this rule will have their respective accounts deleted and said email address domain(s)/IP addresses banned, no exceptions. It only makes things harder for legitimate folks interested in joining us to create their respective accounts and make worthwhile contributions to this community area here.

As stated earlier, these rules/guidelines are subject to be modified at any time, so please make sure to check this post often regardless of it we give notice or not about said changes to this document that might be made. Remember that you are responsible for what happens to your account when you sign up for this section of the site, so be sure to adhere to these rules at all times during your login sessions and writing your posts. Also, please note that any severe violations found by us on this site may be reported to higher authorities if needed for additional action against you for server abuse along with our permanently banning your account and/or IP from access to this part of the site.

Once again, thanks for your time reading this and for your cooperation in advance with adhereing to these rules to keep this site suitable for all age groups. We'll see you around the rest of these boards themselves.

=====================================

While we do reserve the right to use all available means provided to us to keep these forums a family friendly place and stay in compliance with our site hosting provier, the views themselves posted on the available boards are still of the authors who wrote them and do not necessarily represent the views of the forum administration/staff of this site, or the website hosting providers at VimlyHost. If you have any additional questions or need clarification on the rules/guidelines set forth in this document, please do not hesitate to contact this site's maintainer/forum administrator.
