Music Arrangements Outlook (E3 2021): "Mario Party Superstars" / "Mario Golf: Super Rush" / "WarioWare: Get It Together!" / "Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope"

Posted by Merit Celaire on Sunday, June 27, 2021 - 11:20 PM

Okay, friends; finally snagging this chance on Sunday evening (I know, this is usually when I'm in my "weekend mode", but after taking a much needed nap and starting to prepare for the week ahead, this is now the best time for me to deal with getting this latest "Music Arrangements Outlook" article written up to answer the question of which featured Mario installments that were shared in this recent Nintendo Direct presentation for E3 2021 are on my radar for future Super Nintendo music style arrangement covers in the months ahead (after the game's respective release itself). Along with that, like with past entries under this section, is there going to be a "priority status" for each featured game here, or are they going to be given a respectful "pass"? Let's find out right now.

First up on the list of featured Mario installments from this presentation: Mario Party Superstars. On the music end, especially in regards to Super Nintendo music style arrangement stuff I've done in the past, I haven't really done much in regards to "Mario Party" installments. In fact, I've only done one song cover so far, and that was targeting a song from Mario Party 10! But could this upcoming installment turn the tide for my planbook when said game itself releases in late October? We'll have to wait and see; but priority wise on the music arrangement planning front, I've got this at a "LOW PRIORITY" for the time being.

Next up on the list is the Mario Golf: Super Rush game. Although this game itself was just released onto store shelves and Nintendo's eShop as of the date and time of this posting, it still deserves a mention here because as you all already know, I've always been hard at work doing Super Nintendo music style covers of songs featured in past Mario Golf games (as well as past Mario Tennis games too) and it's all because of the composing genius of Motoi Sakuraba every single installment. After hearing song excerpts from this all new Mario Golf: Super Rush game itself, I have no doubt that I'm going to be bracing for another awesome ride on the music arrangement process here as soon as I find some candidates in the months ahead. However, priority status wise, like in years past in targeting songs to do the process in past Mario Golf installments (like Mario Golf: World Tour and even the golf angle from Mario Sports Superstars), this still falls under the "MEDIUM PRIORITY" category; but that doesn't mean that I'm ignoring this installment on the music end. Not by a long shot. If any new happenings develop in my seeing about doing song covers targeting this game, I'll definitely make sure to let you all know.

Third up on the target list to share for this article: WarioWare: Get It Together! Here's the thing, everyone - as you are well aware, the featured "WarioWare" installments for these music operations do qualify as being under the "branched" category since the focus character (Wario, of course!) is obviously part of the overall Mario cast. Plus, I've done a bunch of Super Nintendo music style arrangement covers targeting songs from said games (including, but not limited to Game & Wario, and more recently since earlier this year, WarioWare: Smooth Moves). But the real question is if there will be some possible song candidates that'll get my attention when this upcoming WarioWare: Get It Together! game itself makes its way onto store shelves come 9/10/'21. From what I heard so far from the main announcement video as well as this video that the Nintendo of America Treehouse team shared a few weeks back, there might be a few, but no confirmations on that yet since the said game itself is still currently under development at this time. Regardless, unfortunately like past plans in terms of doing Super Nintendo music style covers targeting songs from the WarioWare games, this still falls under my giving this upcoming installment a "LOW PRIORITY" status.

And finally, we were shown Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. This is the second installment under development and publishing under the folks at Ubisoft using their "Rabbids" cast as well as Nintendo's Super Mario cast (the first one, as you all should know was under the title of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle). Here's the thing on the music front for this game in question - along with hearing some of the musical score of the first game (which was composed by the very talented Grant Kirkhope, by the way), there really hasn't been any songs that have caught my attention to do Super Nintendo music style covers of at this time. This isn't to say that the songs themselves from the first "Mario + Rabbids" game as well as this upcoming follow-up (due for release during the course of next year) should be ignored; but because of how very unique the score is for both "Mario + Rabbids" games, for the time being in regards to finding song candidates for my Super Nintendo music style arrangement planbook, I'm going to have to declare a respectful "PASS" on this one.

So to review: from the four featured games on this "Music Arrangements Outlook" article (E3 2021 edition), one game is in "MEDIUM PRIORITY" status, two are in "LOW PRIORITY" status, and one is a "PASS". But as always, things can change over time because who knows what might happen. That all said, as I stated in this post a few days ago, it's a definite that upcoming song covers targeting the score of Mario Golf: Super Rush will be dealt with in the months to come; in the meantime, you're still able to help me out in finding those candidates to be considered by filling out this form (just make sure that you note "Mario Golf: Super Rush" for question 2B).

Until then, that's all I have to share for this "music arrangements outlook" article; thanks once again for your reading this and I'll see you next time around. I'm out for now.
