Music Arrangements Outlook - Super Mario 35th Anniversary Direct (9/3/'20)

Posted by Merit Celaire on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 - 08:19 PM

All right, everyone; it's been a very long while since I've done a "Music Arrangements Outlook" article for this place (more specifically, the last one was written up and posted for this section of the site a little over one year ago). But tonight, despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation (along with other real life matters) trying to still mess my overall groove up, I'm here to share my latest outlook regarding certain featured installments that were showcased in the "Super Mario 35h Anniversary Direct" presentation that Nintendo posted earlier this month. So what could possibly hit my music operation's planbook on the backend in the coming months? Here's what's possibly on the radar.

Early in the presentation overall, it was announced that a Nintendo Switch port of a Wii U installment was being done. This one is being called Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. If you all can recall for these music operations as a whole, I've done a bunch of Super Nintendo music style arrangements of the Wii U game itself (which can be checked out at this page). But with this Nintendo Switch port coming for during the course of next year (specifically February 12, 2021 to be exact, but subject to change, of course), there's a possibility that our Super Mario 3D World game page might be split in two sections (one housing the arrangements I've done targeting the main game's score, and the other one that might hold possible arrangements targeting the "Bowser's Fury" side, if applicable). Regardless, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for this; once again, hopefully, my planbook for this will become solidified on or prior to the planned game's release date.

Next, we've got Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit (which is slated for release come October 16, 2020). Not much has been shared regarding the announcement of it besides this video itself; but as many of you also know, I've always enjoyed doing Super Nintendo music style arrangements of songs from the Mario Kart installments (beginning with Mario Kart Wii all the way up to Mario Kart Tour). So far, both Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Tour have kept my attention on the musical score end to find candidates for the arrangement process; will this upcoming unique Mario Kart game have the same result? We'll have to see come October 16th if any possible "Super Nintendo music style arrangement candidates" can be found here. Stay tuned.

And last, but not least, the "big announcement" that crowned the Super Mario 35th Anniversary Direct presentation as a whole: Super Mario 3D All-Stars. But here's the situation for this place, however: one of the featured installments in said compilation already has a game page where the Super Nintendo music style arrangements I've done so far have been housed: Super Mario Galaxy. The other two featured installments were made for the respective systems that were way before this operation's "focus scope"; specifically, Super Mario 64 (which was done for the Nintendo 64 system) and Super Mario Sunshine (which was done for the Nintendo Gamecube system). Nothing has been set in stone (and I do plan to ask a few questions to our respective "interactive community portals" in due time), but if it's a given that certain candidates can be found from these two games under this Super Mario 3D All-Stars compilation, then my planbook is going to be literally rocked for sure. Additionally, since this is a "compilation installment" for the Nintendo Switch console, it is planned for any Super Nintendo music style arrangement done involving music from the Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Sunshine game be housed under the Super Mario 3D All-Stars title.

I know that this might be a lot to take in for many of you faithful listeners/followers of these beloved music operations, but this one thing is an undisputed fact: the above mentioned installments in question are definitely on my radar as the months forge ahead. However, I need to still find the time to clear this huge backlog of stuff that grew ever since COVID-19 threw a horrible wrench in the works messing everyone's original plans up, including mine. But yours truly is holding out to hope that this will be done so my planbook on the backend will be clearer in regards to how I'm going to approach any possible candidates related to the installments shared here on this article. You all don't want to miss it, awesome people! Until then, I'll see you all later; take care until the next "music arrangements outlook" article (and I really hope that we don't have to wait very long for it). I'm gone.
