"Year in Review" - 2025

Posted by Merit Celaire on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 - 01:32 PM

All right, friends, it's time for us to get this latest "Year in Review" article posted in regards to looking back at all the Super Nintendo music operations activity that was shared for these operations as a whole during the previous year. Now, there might be some differences in regards to how this article for our latest "Year in Review (2025)" may be written, but this part definitely is still the most important thing in regards to the final numerical stats for said previous year in which:

* 42 songs were covered during the course of the previous year, which involved...
* 7 featured Mario series' installments (main/spinoff/branched), as well as...
* 12 featured Super Nintendo music instrument sets that were called on to do the song cover process itself.

Thing is, the above numbers were slightly lower as compared to our previous "Year in Review" article covering the 2024 activity; as I mentioned in previous blog entry articles on this home base website, I still blame that on a lot of real life matters that got in my way like you wouldn't believe and that in turn was literally testing my overall resolve for my passionate endeavors for this thing all over the place (I even mentioned about this in our formal "anniversary statement" for last year in which it also says that real life matters were the ultimate culprit that resulted in my original planbook for certain content planned for this operation's site got hit with delay after delay after delay; my hope is that I don't run into that kind of situation again for this new 2026 year). Obviously, there are no guarantees regarding this, especially since we've just started the new 2026 year itself, but I am keeping fingers crossed that we'll reach breakthroughs over time so that the odds will definitely be in our favor for the most part.

Now with the above all said, including the main overall statistics finalized from the previous 2025 year, it's time to reveal which "featured Mario game installment" took home the winner's circle (in terms of song covers done from said game in question) as well as which "featured Super Nintendo music instrument set" took home the winner's circle (in terms of usage for those covers).

"Featured Mario Game Installments" - Song Cover Usage For 2025

First and foremost, we still have to focus on the featured Mario game installments themselves that were involved in regards to the songs that were covered from said games in the previous year. And despite there being a "drought" in finding candidates during the majority of that time (especially during the "summer months" period), it got a huge activity jolt... because of these two clues: a certain "high demand system" that officially got into action since the middle of last year, as well as a certain "launch title" that was also in high demand with a more than quadruple addictive musical score.

That's right, friends; when the 2025 year officially ended late last month, the "winning installment" was finalized in regards to songs featured for our Super Nintendo music styled arrangement coverage: Mario Kart World! And yes, this even includes the "staff credits" song related to that game which was the final cover for said year. The song cover involvement targeting stuff from the Mario Kart World musical score literally surpassed all other involved "featured Mario game installments" from the previous year which even includes, but is not limited to: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch), Mario Kart Tour, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and even Donkey Kong Bananza (which was our final game page that was added onto this site earlier last month). Don't believe us? Here's the said chart for this section as proof of the matter:

Featured Game Installment
Song Covers Done For 2025
Mario Kart Tour
1
Super Mario Party Jamboree
6
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
4
Mario Kart World
18
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
(Nintendo Switch)
8
Donkey Kong Bananza
3
Princess Peach: Showtime!
2

The question to ask here is: will this same Mario Kart World installment dominate again during the course of this new 2026 year, or will another involved featured Mario game installment take that winner's circle spot when it's time to tally the numbers up at the end of the year? We shall see as the months progress; look forward to it regarding this angle of our operations.

"Featured Super Nintendo Music Instrument Sets" - Usage for 2025

But let's not forget about also giving shoutouts to the Super Nintendo music instrument sets that were called upon as well to do the song covers process as well last year. And although yours truly still has no regrets in regards to calling on the featured music instrument sets which were involved in the previous year, I do have to say that out of all of what was involved, one of those featured sets literally dominated the activity thanks to a majority of song covers which were done focused on the musical score of Mario Kart World:

You'd better believe it, friends: it's the instrument set of Konami's Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! that takes home the "winner's circle" for 2025. Although this instrument set was also called upon in regards to doing song covers focused on the musical score of Super Mario Party Jamboree (which can be seen via this posting here), the majority of its usage was in regards to songs written for the quadruple addictive score for Mario Kart World, with the most recent ones being focused on the section themes for said game's "Rainbow Road" course (which can be heard by going to this posting for more info about those song covers) and even the more than epic "staff credits" song for the aforementioned game in question as well (which can be checked out right here). Granted, there were other Super Nintendo music instrument sets that were involved in other Mario Kart World song covers, as well as some other featured Mario game installments that were involved in the previous year, but the majority of them couldn't hold on to the uniqueness that was the instrument set for Konami's Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! game. You can see the below chart in regards to what was involved for last year on the "Featured Super Nintendo Music Instrument Sets" side to see evidence of what's been said here:

Featured SNES Music Instrument Set
Instrument Set Usage For 2025
Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge
2
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose!
13
Tiny Toon Adventures: Wacky Sports Challenge
2
SmartBall
8
Castlevania: Dracula X
1
Super Castlevania IV
1
Plok
2
Gradius III
1
Disney's Aladdin (SNES Version - Capcom)
6
The Adventures of Batman & Robin (SNES Version - Konami)
1
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends
3
The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
("Disney's Magical Quest 1")
1

Yes, as what was stated earlier, we surely had a lot of featured instrument sets that were involved in the previous year, but the usage on the majority of them were slim to none, especially considering the fact that when 2025 came to a close last month, only the instrument set of Konami's Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! ended up in the double digits thanks to a majority of song covers focused on stuff from Mario Kart World dominating the latter half of last year. These angles alone tell me one thing: first, what kind of "featured Mario game installments the majority were definitely keeping tabs on during the previous year (which would be Mario Kart World, obviously; and apparently Donkey Kong Bananza, to a point), as well as which "featured Super Nintendo music instrument sets are still to this day... "iconic" for the most part. Not many featured games on both the Super Mario series side as well as the "featured Super Nintendo music instrument set side" get that much of an honor especially after a previous year officially gets into the history books, so I believe it's safe to say that this time around, we definitely have had some literal icons involved to close out the 2025 year itself. Now it's time to see what featured Mario game installments as well as "featured Super Nintendo music instrument sets" will be getting those iconic honors this time around when we see about writing the next "Year in Review" article itself, but for when this brand new 2026 year is officially closed in less than twelve months from now.

Until then, do you faithful friends/followers/listeners of these beloved music operations as a whole agree with what has been presented on this "Year in Review" (2025) article itself? Please don't hesitate to let me know via our main contact form as well as if there are any possible corrections to these above statistics that might need to be made. I thank you all in advance for reading this entire special article itself as we can now officially put the 2025 year itself in the rear view mirror and start getting situated to see what we need to put in our planbook for the remainder of this brand new 2026 year. See you awesome people later.
